Halloween Events in South Florida

jack-o-lanternHalloween is less than three weeks away, and festivities are already well underway.  If you’re looking to get into the spooky mood this holiday but want to upgrade from staying home and watch a scary movie,  there are many haunted houses throughout Florida that will give you a jolt and have you ready to welcome All Hallows’ Eve on Saturday, October 31st.

In Fort Lauderdale, the Cruz Haunted House is a family friendly attraction that will be open for three days from the 29th through the 31st from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  The attraction will extend its hours to 10:00 pm on Halloween or until there are no more guests arriving.  This year’s theme is the “Faire of Fear” and there will also be a mermaid, fortune teller, Wolf-Man, and a fire eater at the attraction.

For something more intense, Miami’s Jungle Island is hosting its first ever “Terror in the Jungle” event, featuring “mutated” animals and zombie-like Aztec Indians roaming the park.  This event kicked off on  October 2nd and continues until Saturday, November 1st.  Some of the highlights include a 40×20 foot Toxic Zombie Entrance, over four acres of spooky jungle paths, and a 10,000 square foot Ruins Pyramid Haunted House.

If you’d prefer something not involving haunted houses but still want to enjoy the Halloween festivities, visit Islamorada and enjoy the Morada Bay Full Moon Party at Pierre’s restaurant on the 31st.  This large beach party features bonfires, dinner, drinks, a cafe entertainer, live music on the beach, a DJ, dancers, a circus, and much more!  There is a $20 cover charge that allows entry to the party.
